Asian Handicap Betting

The Asian Handicap is the name that receives a type or varies from the normal Handicap, its main difference being the fact that it is aimed at betting on football matches.

This Handicap format is very popular in Asia (hence its name) and works very similarly to the way handicap bets do, in which two teams have a series of handicap points that are added to them, or subtracted depending on the case, to your score at the end of the match.

Due to the low score or number of points generated in football matches, compared to other events or sports such as rugby, American football, or basketball, this Handicap is defined in smaller intervals.

  • The odds on Asian Handicap type bets are always shown with decimal numbers

Types Of Asian Handicaps

Medium Handicaps

In the Medium Handicap, decimal numbers (0.5) are used when setting a Handicap; that is, instead of granting an advantage or disadvantage of 1, it is granted or one of 0.5 or one of 1.5, so that a half-point is given to rid.

This can lead to advantages, for example, in the placement of a minimum Handicap, or disadvantages, since the number is much higher when exceeded.

For example, if we have a Handicap of -0.5 (0.5 in favor of our opponent), our team will have to win by at least one goal to overcome this Handicap, and thus our bets win.

Next, we will show some examples to facilitate the understanding of this type of Asian Handicap.

  • Chelsea (-1.5) vs. Portsmouth (+1.5): In this case, if we use our cash or free bets to bet on Chelsea, we will have a disadvantage of -1.5, that is, for our team to win this it would have to score 2 goals
  • Barcelona (-0.5) vs. Valencia (+0.5): If we bet on Valencia, we would have an advantage of 0.5 goals so, if they tie, we are winners
