‘Fest Flipped

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Rhymefest remix, strictly on the juke tip, available here. Go ill!

Oh, and here’s that sweater guy again, this time with Chris Martin, on a track from the new album. It’s pretty horrible stuff though, recycled verse and all… Guess Chris Martin is the new Phil Collins for American rappers these days.

Kanye Snipped

Snippets of all the tracks from Kanye ‘Knitted Sweater’ West’s ‘Graduation’ album can be found here.

Mic Check

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

New video from the hypest man in UK hip-hop, Million Dan. The track’s called ‘Mic Check’, it’s properly heavy, and out on August 27th, so cop it officially then. Now catch the flick here.

Curtis Wins By Default?

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Now this may turn out to be nothing more than nefarious rumour-mongering, but in the last two days HHC has heard three separate parties utter that, according to those ever present ‘reliable sources’, Kanye West’s ‘Graduation’ has been pushed back until November. Which would obviously leave Fif’ the victor of their little showdown by default (or, more likely, via behind the scenes industry muscle - forget what much of the internet’s saying, 50’s clout is proper large).

Moving on, here’s the lead single from the upcoming Special Teamz (aka EDO G, Jayshaun and Slaine) album, ‘Long Time Coming’, featuring that smooth cat Devin The Dude.

Dreamy Days

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

As the world goes loco over Fif’ versus Kanye, it’s easy to forget that there’s a big chunk of other less hyped albums set to drop around the same time, one being 9th Wonder’s solo set.

Having just peeped the full length version of ‘Dream Merchant Vol 2′, HHC is pleased to report that it’s a damn doozy of an album filled with soulful bangers and stellar guest spots (Sean Price, Saigon, Jean Grae, near enough the whole darn Justus League fam), a full Little Brother reunion on ‘No Time To Chill’ and a mighty healthy collabo with Camp Lo.

Dropping after the hullabaloo over those September 11th releases will have passed, cop it then.

MLS Represent (Roy Wegerle)

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Apparently Adidas have teamed up with the Major League Soccer organisation in the US to produce a series of songs based around artists’ local clubs, with Mike Jones (’Houston Dynamo (Don’t Play)’) and RJD2 (’It’s Your (Columbus) Crew’) holding things down on the hip-hop tip. Although we say ‘apparently’ as we’ll be darned if we can actually find any of said songs on the website, but check it out for yourself - you might have better luck.

We should also point out as a government health warning that MLS matches make Scottish second division showdowns look like Champion’s League standard affairs, so best to save your eyes from the horror if you have the choice.

Addendum: Here’s a slightly more useful link, to the bonus track off 9th Wonder’s soon-coming ‘Dream Merchant Vol 2′ set. It’s called ‘Ya Hear Me’ and it’s Jozee Mo on the vocals.

Sunglasses Is A Must

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Tonight there’s a ’secret’ Kanye West gig going down in central London. If you don’t know, well, we’re not allowed to tell you exactly where it is, but for those already with the details have fun and we apologise if he makes you sit through a 17 minute speech about how, you know, at one point some people told him he should stick to producing but, you know, he showed them wrong. And then ate a sandwich in celebration.

(Note: Sandwich added for dramatic effect.)

Stop The Violence: The New Movement

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Straight from the press release - nice to see someone taking some positive steps towards a growing problem:

“Today socially conscious organisation Urban Concepts announced that for the first time ever UK pirate and community radio stations across the country will come together as they meet to make a stand against gun and knife crime which is sadly claiming the lives of too many young people in the UK.

The meeting, facilitated by Urban Concepts for the ‘Don’t Trigger Campaign’, will be held on Monday 20th August at the Finch Bar in South London and will include representatives from stations based in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Nottingham. There will be a 30-minute debate between the stations chaired by Urban Concepts organiser, Raymond Stevenson followed by interviews with the parents and families who have lost loved ones to gun and knife crime. The stations will then take this back and play it out on air with the aim to take the ‘Don’t Trigger’ message out to the masses.

Raymond said: “We realise the power these stations hold in getting a message to the youth of this country. Some of our young people listen to what these DJ’s have to say more so than their parents and with a listening audience of millions,  we hope that these stations can help support and promote the ‘Don’t Trigger’ message to those that are already acting these horrific crimes and to those that are about to.”

Over 20 UK pirate radio stations will meet along with Urban Concept campaign organisers, parents and siblings who have lost children to gun and knife crime and some of the artists who have recorded songs for the upcoming ‘Don’t Trigger ‘07 EP’ which is released on October 5th .”
